Hansford Bell Take Part in Another Magical Tavistock Dickensian Evening and Christmas Light Switch On

Hansford Bell have been getting very festive over the past couple of weeks. From sponsoring Tavistock’s spellbinding Christmas Light Switch-On event to throwing ourselves into Dickensian once again, we’ve been feeling the Christmas spirit and spreading some festive joy in our community.

Most Creative and Best Dressed

Dickensian Evening was cancelled in 2020, so we knew ahead of Dickensian 2021, we needed to create our most complex, intricate window display yet! With help from Graphic Words, McCarthy Property Maintenance, and Tavy Signs, we told the story of Tavistock’s year.

The display incorporated acrylics and silhouetted figures and featured some important events from 2021. There were space shuttles, and the Olympic games. There was the Tour of Britain, and the Hansford Bell team. We even managed to squeeze in some important local figures from Tavistock’s past and present. Did you manage to spot everyone?

With a snow machine and living statue all adding to the festive atmosphere at Hansford Bell HQ, the evening was full of festive magic – even with the rain! Across Tavistock, there were steam engines and a range of street entertainment, and many local shops kept their doors open late. From the smell of hot chestnuts to carol singing to a beautiful lantern parade and Father Christmas, our Christmas hearts were well and truly stirred!

Hansford Bell were even recognised in the Dickensian Evening Awards for Best Dressed Team and Most Creative Window Display. We did look the part, if we do say so ourselves!

Switching On the Switch On

Back in November, we also were delighted to sponsor the Tavistock Christmas Light Switch On, made possible by Tavistock Business Improvement District (BID).

The BID organised a range of great musical performers on the night, including the likes of folk star Seth Lakeman! With a range of other electrifying entertainment and festive fun, some delicious food and drink, the event was a real success and brought the whole community together.

It really was a night to remember, paving the way for a characteristically enchanting Tavistock Christmas. Since the event, the bright lights have been adding a touch of festive sparkle to our little town.
